Ammonium/fluoride is an ionic compound. At room temperature, it is white or colorless transparent rhombic crystals with a slightly sour taste. Deliquescent, decomposed into ammon ia and hydrogenfluoride by heat or hot water. Dissolved in hot water, the aqueous solution is strongly acidic. 

Application and Uses :

1. Used as glass etching agent, preservative, disinfectant, fiber mordant, etc. 

2. Used as a chemical polishing agent for metal surfaces, and also used to extract rare elements.

 

3. Used as analytical reagent and masking agent.

 

4. Used for the etching of titanium and silicon wafers.
